Washing machines fill with water during the wash cycle. To prevent overflowing, or too much water from entering the tub of the machine during the wash cycle, a water level switch is installed. The water level switch is connected to the console with a tube running down into the machine. When the water reaches a certain level in the tube, the machine stops filling. When the correct pressure on the internal diaphragm is attained the corresponding switch is activated. It could be the pressure chamber is blocked, if so you will probably notice more water in the machine and the cloths coming out wetter than usual. The problem here is the pressure switch is not operating, this can have a number of causes, either the switch is faulty, there is a hole in the pressure pipe or it has come off, or the most common reason is the pressure chamber is blocked. If it was screwed on then it will go back in the same position but if it was held on by a clip or glued in place then make a note of the hoses location because if it was put back wrongly positioned you could have more water in the drum than needed resulting in a flood. That model is not known in the uk. But you can't adjust the Presure switch otherwise it will leak out of the door and cause more probs. I've made several claims under Warranty but surprisingly Indesit has changed a number of expensive parts but they don't seem to have a clue about what's going on. I've even made a claim directly to the manufacturer but they refused to exchange the machine and are unable to fix this. Hi all I just wanted to share a quick update on my progress: I manually adjusted the Air Pressure Switch this is an Indesit DEA air pressure switch model C and I now have the machine working in top shape! To increase the amount of water you should turn the center screw clock wise. This screw will be sealed by some sort of red glue. Just turn it with some force and this glue will release the screw. In my machine the Air Pressure Switch is activated aproximatelly at mid fill. This has increased the qty of water and the machine is working very well. You can run a quick program a pre wash to check if it's filling up correctly and repeat the adjust-test process until you're satisfied. The machine should be leveled at all times when you are testing. I recommend you run a couple of Complete long cycles to check everythting is ok. If the machine starts mis behaving for example filling and then immediatelly expelling the water you've probably turned the screw too much and it's trigering the overfill protection mechanism; go back and undo what you did last. How to Adjust a Washing Machine Water Level Switch

T he water level switch aka pressure switch senses the water level in the wash tub. It does this through a plastic tube which runs from the switch in the control console down to the side of the outer tub, near the bottom. The tube is filled with air. As water enters the tub it also enters the tube. As water climbs inside the tube, it pushes on the air trapped inside and increases the air pressure. When the air pressure reaches a certain level, it triggers the switch. Caution : Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs. Before testing the water level switch, unplug the washer or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard. A defective pressure switch can interfere with the cycles that depend upon the switch to indicate when water has filled or emptied from the tub. It can also result in underfilling or overfilling of the tub. The switch routes current from the timer control to the temperature switch and the water inlet valve when the tub needs to be filled. Once full, the pressure switch cuts the current and reroutes it to the motor on the timer control to continue the cycle. Inspect the air tube for kinks, breaks or damage. The tube should also be free of water. The tubing should be securely connected to the bottom of the outer tub and to the bottom of the water level switch. The water level switch has three connectors. Label and disconnect the wires from the switch. Test the switch for continuity using a multitester. Set the multitester to the ohms setting X1. It will be necessary to test each of the three possible pairs. Place a probe on two terminals and note the reading. Now move one of the probes to the other terminal and note the reading. Finally test the third pair and note the reading. The multitester should display a reading of infinity or continuity for each test. In this test two of the pairs should read infinity and one should read near zero resistance continuity. Now blow gently into the air pressure connection and retest. It should click and you must maintain the air pressure while testing. For the two pairs that read infinity one should now show good continuity.
