By using Amazon RDS Proxy, you can allow your applications to pool and share database connections to improve scalability. RDS Proxy makes applications more resilient to database failures by automatically connecting to a standby DB instance while preserving application connections. You can enable RDS Proxy for most applications with no code changes. Using RDS Proxy, you can handle unpredictable surges in database traffic that otherwise could cause issues due to oversubscribing connections or creating new connections at a fast rate. RDS Proxy establishes a database connection pool and reuses connections in this pool without the memory and CPU overhead of opening a new database connection each time. To protect the database against oversubscription, you can control the number of database connections that are created. RDS Proxy sequences or throttles application connections that can't be served immediately from the pool of connections. Although latencies might increase, your application can continue to scale without abruptly failing or overwhelming the database. If connection requests exceed the limits you specify, RDS Proxy rejects application connections sheds load. At the same time, it maintains predictable performance for the load that can be served with available capacity. You can reduce the overhead to process credentials and establish a secure connection for each new connection. RDS Proxy can handle some of that work on behalf of the database. Don't use RDS Proxy for production workloads. Also, we strongly recommend not putting sensitive data in databases that you use with RDS Proxy preview. You might encounter issues during the preview that cause incorrect results, corrupted data, or both. Over the duration of the preview, we might introduce breaking changes without advance notice. These might include upgrades and changes to our API operations. RDS Proxy handles the network traffic between the client application and the database. It does so in an active way first by understanding the database protocol. It then adjusts its behavior based on the SQL operations from your application and the result sets from the database. The database needs less memory and CPU resources when applications open many simultaneous connections. It also doesn't require logic in your applications to close and reopen connections that stay idle for a long time.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks for Chris's update. As an example, here is my cloudFormation template for serverless aurora. We no longer need the DBInstance. Simple answer - No. Not till they make it available in CFN. It might be a while before it is made directly available in CFN. How are we doing? Please help us improve Stack Overflow. Vadorequest Thanks for the example, I feel like there are missing things there though, like the Subnet, you use a Ref but no example of how to configure it. Could you update it with a more thorough example if that's the case? Thanks for asking! My DBSubnetGroup is essentially the same as the example here: docs. Terraforming Installations allow terraforming of your colonies, allowing a reduction and eventual elimination of colony costs. Lower colony costs mean each colony costs less to operate and require less infrastructure per million colonists. A terraforming installation can add or subtract an amount of gas equal to the racial terrforming rate per year modified by the planetary and sector governor's Terraforming bonus and requirecivilians each to operate. This will immediately halt all planetary terraforming and remove any associated Wealth costs. Shutting down in this way will require a 6-month warm-up time to restart terraforming. Note that orbital terraforming via Terraforming Modules are not affected. Terraforming can be paused by selecting Terraforming Inactive. This method will also halt orbital terraforming. Terraforming installations requiretons of cargo space 25 cargo holdsbut are automatically broken down into parts if only partial cargo capacity is available. When moving parts, the entire installation must be moved before it becomes operational. Terraforming installations work in parallel with orbital terraforming modules, however only one gas may be terraformed at a time. Orbital ships do not receive the bonuses granted by the civilian administrators and the ground based terraformers do not receive the military officer bonuses. How the installations are able to provide Mercury with an atmosphere 10x as thick as Earth's made of pure Neon is anyone's guess. MorTMarkosWedgebert. Aurora is on version 7. Unlike Asteroid Mining Modules, however, they can work on any interstellar body. Terraforming Modules produce atmosphere at the same rate as a Terraforming Installation, but as they're manned by crew they don't require infrastructure and population to run. Because of this, it is quite common to see empires that exclusively use Terraforming Modules and completely ignore infrastructure and Terraforming Installations altogether. In order to use a Terraforming Module, you must first create a colony on the world you plan to inhabit. From the F9 menu, select a habitable planet you want to terraform and establish a colony there. On the Population and Production page F2select the new colony and go to the "Environment" tab. Select the gas you want to add or remove, and the terraforming module will begin to add or remove the gas accordingly. If you have a group of terraformers in orbit, don't send new ships to join that task group. You must send ships to the planet first, then tell them to join the task group, otherwise their production rate won't be added to the total. The same applies to asteroid miners, maintenance vessels, orbital habitats and harvesters. GrendusTMarkosZook. Aurora is on version 7. Contact Erik on the forum for a wiki account. From AuroraWiki. However, terraform actually treats it as an upgrade and fails with the following error. Note, that it is trying to upgrade instead of replacing the instance as the plan shows. Skip to content.
