Shopify t shirt designer

A few months ago, the team and I built an ecommerce business in three days. We figured, why not do it again? In fact, why not do it again with a totally different product, timeline, and budget? Everything from coming up with what to sell, to paid advertising, and more. We knew from the get go that we wanted to sell something that was relatively hands off, was easy to get up and running, and could be an exciting business that would be fun to work on for the foreseeable future. I also wanted it to be something that required little to no upfront cost. And, I wanted to be able to spend more money on marketing and less on inventory. We decided on selling shirts. But what kind of shirts did we want to sell? What sort of business was it going to be? Did we want to build a brand that would compete with the likes of Ralph Lauren, Nike, and more? Or did we want to build a t-shirt business that was more casual and topical? It would be hard for us to build a brand that competes on a large scale with little investment and time. How could we tell a story about a product that would be compelling enough for visitors to trust us, and to join us and our vision? But building a business quickly that has the potential to turn into a reputable brand was certainly something to work towards. With this in mind, I got started by looking at what was selling already, what people were truly passionate about, and something that I was personally interested in. That would come after the business model was proven. I nailed down some criteria that I was looking for in a community. I knew there was a way to filter reddits based on activity, which is when I came across an incredible tool for doing this type of research. Take some time and look at what people are passionate about — maybe it will inspire you to start something. These threads are full of insightful details about what people are passionate about and why. For instance, in this thread the most upvoted comment is someone who is passionate about…. Maps were an interesting idea as well. What if I sold shirts of highly detailed city maps? I thought that was really cool. The only problem with this was finding high quality, inexpensive maps that I could print on shirts. I know enough about pets. Our office at Shopify is home to quite a few dogsand it was a market that could be dug into and branched off into different niches within the dog community. There's an incredible amount of different breeds.

From t-shirts to posters, backpacks to books, you can put your own original spin on everyday products and sell them online. Plus, with print-on-demand services everything after the sale, from printing to shipping, is handled by your supplier. For example, a low base cost for one product might make it an obvious choice, until you realize that it would take 21 days to reach customers with your most affordable shipping option. To help you out, I put together a quick overview of some of the most popular services that cover a variety of scenarios. All of these services are free to set up you only pay when you order a productplus they integrate with Shopify. This list is by no means exhaustive. For apparel products, in particular, Printful offers a number of printing techniques. You should also be mindful of how additional customizations affect the price. Printing on the sleeve, for example, will usually mean paying a nominal fee on top of the base cost. Besides apparel, Printful also offers mugs, pillows, framed posters, beach towels, aprons, and more. While there is no built-in editor to design your book, Lulu Xpress does offer downloadable templates to get you started. It even has a transparent pricing calculator to help you cost out your project, including various shipping options. Gooten also has an intuitive image editor that gives you a good sense of what your final product will look like. In fact, the platform boasts over products you can print on. It goes without saying that design plays a crucial role in creating successful print-on-demand products. There are many ways to commission or produce your own designs, as long as you understand a few key concepts that will help you work effectively with designers. When working with designers, you should specify that your design is for printing. This tells them that it should ideally be digital pixels per inch DPI or PPIhave a transparent background, and other nuances of designing for print vs. Note that print file specifications will change depending on the printer and printing technique used. When in doubt, send the designer the print specs for the specific product and any printing guidelines so they understand the full context. The designs you upload should be large enough for the printing area of the actual product, or larger—resizing a smaller image to make it bigger will likely result in a loss of quality. There are a lot of talented designers, so you should be able to find someone to bring your ideas to life. The tricky part is figuring out what you want to design in the first place. This will depend on your target audience for the product, but you can find design inspiration on:. You can look for content, messaging, or styles that already resonate with your target audience to brainstorm ideas worth pursuing.

Outline the Sky

You are currently visiting shopify. I was inspired one day while at a local patio bar in Dallas, Texas to create a t-shirt that was simple, yet fashionable. Having no background in apparel and working a full time corporate job, I figured this would be a fun way to make money on the side. It was also somewhat my personal counter to the graphic tee era. I don't know when the skyline design dawned on me, but I drew it on my iPad, used another app called Penultimate to color it, and pitched a local print screener to print my prototypes on the softest tri blend shirt I could find. I then went straight to Shopify to build a website because I remember Daymond John mentioning the platform on Shark Tank. Initially I put together two products on a free theme, selling out of 50 products in 72 hours all by using social media Instagram and Facebook. Fast forward 12 months and I am now full time, projecting 6 figures in sales if not very close toand recently a VC firm in the Dallas area partnered up with me to really give me the power to scale. I have now designed 31 cities, have 15 of them online, and a total of 90 across the USA we will launch over this year. I have partnered up with local Dallas Fashionista Lauren Scruggs and we have co designed 5 new products that our customers are really going to love. I earned my first sales by posting my Shopify site on everyone I was friends with wall on Facebook, as well as constantly posting it to my own. I also had Instagram with a few hundred followers so I uploaded a few pics there and told them how to get it. I sold out of 50 shirts in two different colors in 72 hours, prompting my best friend to put in money so we could scale quicker than intended paid for a theme and branded by a designer. The back end is pretty simple from a logistics standpoint. All of my inventory is on racks by color and city. I use the plug in "Shipping Easy" which makes my life so much easier. When an order is placed, it also goes in to the Shipping Easy dashboard which I check every morning. From there I can print out the purchase on shipping label paper I buy from Office Depot, and stick right on to the poly bag we ship in. The only tough part is picking and packing the items that have been purchased because we already offer 5 online, have 8 more in print, and an action strategy of launching 90 total. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that logistics for OTS need to be precise to save time and money. But for now, we are still a start up working hard for every dollar, so until it makes sense to work with a logistics partner such as Newgistics, we will continue to do it ourselves
