Joined Mar 10, Messages Up until now it wasn't possible to use the Dell Perc H Mini Mono cards with FreeNAS because it just seemed not to be possible to flash them to IT mode or if you did that, your Dell server wouldn't boot up because it didn't found the proper Mini Mono card. Now someone seems to have found a way to solve this problem so that maybe this not so rare Dell card seems to be working with FreeNAS now. Thank you. Chris Moore Super Moderator Moderator. Configuring the Dell PERC H730 Controller for Passthrough and RAID

After the reboot, it takes a while as step 6 said it would, felt longer than 3 minutes thoug until i finally says " Baseport not responding. No adapter available ". After that I don't get any further anymore. It stays quite a while on "Initializing Firmware Interfaces" and then the server crashes with a mean looking screen saying "The System detected an exception during the UEFI pre-boot environment" note, I've set the server to boot in bios mode, not in UEFI mode though. I can't progress beyond that screen and have to hard reset the server. I can't even get into the system bios anymore. What can I do now? Joined: Mar 3, Messages: 4 Likes Received: 3. Take the card out of the server. Then put the card back in and continue. Sleyk likes this. Sleyk Well-Known Member. Joined: Mar 25, Messages: Likes Received: Perfect advice. Some people will run into small snags on their dell systems if you have a mini mono or mini blade card due to the Dell lifecycle firmware. The Dell bios loads specific modules for each integrated device upon boot. When you write over the initial firmware, you are essentially "disappearing" the card to the system. So the bios is like "wtf? If that happens, just as Agentfry said, just go to bios and disable integrated device on slot and reboot. You can also reboot a few times to see if the bios will re-enumerate itself without the card technically presenting itself. Once the card is fully flashed, the bios will load the correct modules for the card, which is now a HBA, and all will be well. Remember for anyone else coming by to read this: if you have a Dell System with a mini mono or mini blade card that you wanna convert, you must use the HBA Mini firmware. If you mistakenly flashed the adapter firmware on the Mini Mono, it will take, but it will lock up the card and maybe your system. Then you gotta do a -o -e -7 to erase it and start over. The adapter firmware is only for pci-e adapters regardless if you have a Dell system or another system. Glad you are seeing great speeds now! VSAN – Changing Dell Controller from RAID to HBA mode

By pXiusApril 15, in General Support. The Controller is detected by unriad Similar to this img:. The disks however are not detected or passed through. Based on this thread, a driver was in development and working as per one of the posters. Is this driver part of unRaid yet? Latest build. Do I have to do something to get it to load? Either way, I don't know how to initialize a driver manually after the server starts. I can also see the drive in Raid0 in explorer. HBA mode also works in Win7. Same issue when going back to unRaid. No need for a refund, I was able to figure it out. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account.
