Glamping Getaway! - Caravan Outpost

Sure, glamping promises—and delivers—glamour. With such an incredible variety of landscapes, California is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. But what if you just don't like to tough out chilly nights in a sleeping bag on the ground? We've rounded up five of the best glamping sites for the perfect combination of the great outdoors and a good night's sleep. The hip little oasis of Ojai, just a two-hour drive from Los Angeles and nestled amid lush, green hills, has a fittingly cool, chilled out glampsite. The 11 vintage airstreams at Caravan Outpost sit in a lovely garden space and are fully decked out — they even include their own record players. A community fire pit beckons friendly gatherings where you can exchange stories of your favorite cycling trail or surf spot and enjoy the famous pink-hour where the sunset adds a magical hue to the atmosphere. The family-friendly Costanoa resort in Pescadero has everything from luxury suites to camp sites for your own tent. However, glamping in the tent bungalows provides the perfect combination of outdoorsy and comfort. The fire pits are the perfect place to roast marshmallows after a day of hiking, sea kayaking, biking, or horseback riding, and the lush beds are exactly what your body needs to rest up for the next day's adventures. The epitome of luxury camping is a fully decked-out safari tent nestled on the forest floor beneath towering redwoods — this is glamping at its finest. The babbling stream and gently rustling leaves lull you to relaxation as you dose under your heated blanket. The tents have hot and cold running water, which is amazing while camping, but there is also a tap that spits out tea-ready water, perfect to brew a cup to wrap your hands around while you sit back in your Adirondack chair around a fire. The rest of the Ventana resort has a luxury spa, swimming pools and a fabulous restaurant to enjoy up on the cliff overlooking Big Sur's stunning coastline. While this isn't a tent, we think a tiny wood dome in the desert counts as glamping. And if stargazing in Joshua Tree isn't on your bucket list yet, it should be. Staying in this bohemian geo-dome just a short drive from town takes contemplating the cosmos to a whole new level. The dome is equipped with personal telescopes to get up close and personal with the solar system from the comfort of your two-room abode — there's even a glass panel in the roof. Go in the spring when the wildflowers carpet the area in brilliant violet and yellow. Pro-tip: do the minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park at sunset for the best views and to avoid the crowds. It's unlikely you will find a view to wake up to that is more spectacular than being greeted with Yosemite's impossibly huge sheets of rock face. It's nothing short of life changing. While these tents are a bit more rustic than the other glamping sites on our list there is just a simple camp bed insidethe jaw-dropping location more than makes up for the lack of creature comforts. These well-appointed tents in Half-Dome Village, right at the heart of Yosemite National Park, are the perfect landing spot for exploring the many wonders of the park. Comfortable bed, nice full kitchen, easy on street parking, nice shower, coffee machine with pods, M'Lou will reply to your questions in minutes, 10 minutes to closest beach, good movies, in all a pleasant place. M'Lou's Beachie Bungalow was the absolute perfect space for our weekend Ventura getaway. Thanks again! The place was great. Super cute bungalow with everything you need. Absolutley everything. It was decorated really lovely. She will go above and beyond to help you have a great time! We enjoyed our stay in Ventura, the city exceeded our expectations! The place itself is in a quiet part of Ventura, but only a short drive to Main St and the beach. The detached guesthouse was nice and cozy with awesome amenities that made our stay so fun and relaxing! This place is great. The space is used well so that you have everything you need in a small stay-over place. I spent 3 nights here and appreciated the local suggestions for food and activities. Very warm, private space. M'Lou's place is compact but nicely arranged, well equipped and visually appealing. Also, it's not too far from the beaches and downtown area. I recommend M'Lou's place. If you are a person alone or a couple, this is an absolute gem of a place. Extremely clean and stylish and offers many amenities. This place is so lovely and I never once felt afraid as a woman alone.

California Glamping From $92/Night

My husband and I planned a last minute getaway from LA. We immediately booked it. Upon arrival we asked for an upgrade if they had one we orginally booked Lala bc everything else was bookee we were in luck, they did! The owners and staff were awesome. You could tell that they loved being there. Every morning we woke up to coffee by the fire and went to bed with smores and popcorn fire side. The accommodations were awesome. The bed and pillows were comfortable. They had extra bathrooms and showers outside of the trailers which were always clean. They also have bikes that you can take into town no charge. The general store is out of this world, I wanted everything. It was beyond relaxing. We can't wait to go back and visit. Truly an incredible experience. From the beautiful Airstreams, to the unique setting and friendly staff. Located in a commercial district near downtown Ojai, once you walk through the palm trees into the property you feel like you're in an upscale Glamping Destination away from it all. This place is truly unique and special. We didn't take advantage of the complementary bikes but we will be back soon to explore more. Thank you for the wonderful stay Caravan Outpost!!! Thanks for the kind words about our humble establishment Kristin. It was our pleasure to host you and yours in the Valley of the Moon and we only hope that you next visit is even more enjoyable. This place is magical. I went here for a birthday weekend stay and it was simply the best. The owners are the sweetest and extremely helpful!! Chet recommended to hike the Valley View Trail and it did not disappoint. The area is incredibly charming. I'm dying to go back already. CO is a truly unique destination. The Airstreams offer more amenities than the average hotel room and camp site but the ambiance and charm are unmatched.

End your day relaxing around the outdoor fire pit. The yurt is ideal for singles and couples --or a special getaway for friends! The yurt is situated on a private, fenced section of our three-acre hilltop. The owner's home is on the property as well, at the opposite end. There is parking for one car adjacent to the yurt. Entrance is through a private gate on the left. We are available by cell phone should you have any questions about Ojai or are in need of any assistance. The yurt will be ready for your arrival and appointed with everything needed for a wonderful Ojai retreat. Our hilltop property is located just two miles from town. There are also many wonderful hiking trails within minutes of the site. The beaches of Ventura are within a twenty-minute drive, and a day trip in Santa Barbara is just a minutes away. We strive to make this property as earth-friendly as possible by using environmentally safe dish soap, shampoo and hand soap, by providing recycled paper products and using propane when possible and low-wattage light bulbs. It is important to note that Ojai has warm summers and cool winters. There is a evaporative cooling unit in the yurt, but most guests choose to be out and about during the heat of the day. The yurt has four windows and two doors to allow the breeze to flow through in the summer. Ojai cools nicely in the evenings. Although there is a heater in the yurt, it can be chilly by morning, so we recommend having some warmer clothing available during these cooler months. We provide extra blankets for the bed during this time also. Please only flush toilet paper and use the trash bin in the bathroom as needed. We will clean the bathroom area every second or third day of your stay. Please use only the soap that is provided when washing dishes or showering. Please do not move the firepit to another location--it is currently in the safest spot. Krista is an amazing host who made us feel right at home. She gave us a quick tour of her property and was kind enough to leave filtered water and fresh squeezed orange juice from her garden in the fridge.

Glamping in Ojai - Caravan Outpost

I spent 20 years in the travel industry. When I settled down and got our two dogs Maggie and Orbit … I put my passport away. There was no way I was leaving them. Logs mental note … I must go to this magical spiritual dog friendly California town. Brain please bookmark this for me. Centrally located in the small town of Ojai is a cluster of 11 airstream trailers between palm trees and lush tropical foliage. There are hammocks, round lounge sofas and even a slack line for those acrobatically inclined. I found a weeknight that was available on short notice. Travel logistics: — Distance from San Diego: miles give or take — Drive time: 3. I did however check what the weather was going to be driving through LA and noticed it was going to be in the low 90s. This interfered with my long lengthy bucket list. Traveling solo is quite liberating. You can do what you want, eat where you want, and basically set your own schedule. But traveling with dogs limits that. It add a layer of complexity in the sense that your decisions are based on where you can go with your dogs. The airstreams are in a semi — circle and covered farm style tables and chairs are in the middle. Complimentary bikes were casually lined up opposite the community fire pits. The place has a vintage meets farmhouse meets California small town resort type of vibe. Each of the trailers have a name. She could sleep 3 adults. It was plenty of space for myself, Maggie and Orbit. Staying in an airstream is fun. There are all sorts of cubby shelves and secret ways to open doors. I spent the first 20 minutes or so exploring the airstream with the girls not too far behind. They let me take a photo.
