Lenovo t460s reset button

My TP is just two years old. However, yesterday I got the five short beeps and the black screen when start up. Looks like the mother board is down. I did researh on line and found some machine can be recoveryed by the emergency reset hole. However, I am not able to find it in my TP. Does TP have such a hole? Is there any other way can resolve this issue? Very appreciate. I was hoping someone with a Tp would answer. I don't have one to check, but what I remember is that there really isn't one. The back cover is easy to remove, so you can pull the main battery and remove the back cover. The CMOS battery is at the upper right. If you disconnect that and press the power button a couple of times to drain the capacitors, that will reset it. I always suggest people try a different DIMM if they have one. Bad memory can cause all sorts of errors. View All. Lenovo is committed to environmental leadership from operations to product design and recycling solutions. See our Sustainability Report. I just got my Ts and trying to clean install Windows I have tried F12, F1 and all with and without the Fn key. It booted into the BIOS on the first boot for some reason. Can someone help me here? I was able to get it into the BIOS and Boot Menu by powering down and hitting the reset button on the bottom of the computer. Apparently Windows 10 "never shuts down" and since the Ts has a built in battery, you have to do this. Win 10 does something more like hibernation when normal shutdown is used. But all attempts to use F12 have failed. Tried Restart. Still can't bring up a boot menu via F12 on my Ts. If you are running Windows 10, remove the "Fast startup" option in the power plan. This setting causes no end of issues with these laptops. That worked. View All. Lenovo is committed to environmental leadership from operations to product design and recycling solutions. Hard Reset Lenovo Laptop to factory settings without password

I have a 6-week old T which inexplicably failed to power on this evening. It was operating fine yesterday with no signs of issues and was disconnected from mains as soon as it was shut down yesterday evening. I'll call the Lenovo support centre when it opens in the morning, however, if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, I would be most interested to hear them. I had the same issue and brought it to a service centre. I used my apple SIM card tool to give it a gentle poke and voila, it came back. Try that. Losing complete power is frustrating though, and I think I smell a defect. No rhyme or reason, whether I power down or suspend in Windows 10, or simply close the lid, sometimes the power just doesn't come back and I have to do the reset. It seems to be happening more, like every 5th or 6th time. Lenovo, we need an answer here please. Should I send it back to you? I had 2 Ts do the exact same thing this morning. One was a machine we had deployed to a user, the second was a brand new machine we had just finished putting a image one. Second machine, the power light faintly flashes times, then nothing. I phoned Lenovo support who were most helpful. Described the steps taken to diagnose and was advised the motherboard was faulty as suspected. They arranged an engineer to visit. I was on the phone a total of 7 minutes. An excellent IBM engineer arrived promptly the following morning, less than 24 hours after I called, with a replacement motherboard. The machine was back up and running an hour or so later. The only problem was the difficulty gaining access to the screws to detach the keyboard - I have a few small "digs" in the plastic of the case now, but hardly visible and not really a problem beyond a cosmetic one. The engineer was a dedicated professional who offered excellent customer service. I appreciated the lack of forms and other things to fuss over signing to give liability waivers and such. Likely just one of the small number of failure incidents on the first part of the bathtub curve. Seriously impressed with the service I received. My six-week old Ts was working fine last night. Dead as a door nail this morning. Reset button trick fails to revive. Tapping the on-off button 10 times followed by holding it down for 30 secs accomplished nothing other than making me feel silly for having tried it. Can read the suggestion to remove the "external battery," but am rather reluctant to open the computer up by unscrewing five small screws. Any other suggestions? Don't have any incense to burn, but could probably find a scented candle if that would do the trick. This exact same thing happened to me too.

Top 2 Ways to Factory Reset Lenovo ThinkPad

I have had my laptop Thinkpad Ts for just over a year now and use it for work daily. I was using it with no issue at lunch, but when I opened the lid around 3 hours later - the screen was black and the laptop seemed to be stuck in sleep mode. I tried a hard reset and now I can not even get the Lenovo post menu to show. If I press the power button, the keyboard momentarily turns on the backlighting and the power button stays illuminated, after about a minute the power button turns off. I have tried using the hardware reset button on the bottom of the laptop, removing the 2 discreet batteries, removing the CMOS battery, removing all batteries and resetting the RAM. None of this has gotten me any headway on resolving this issue. I am going to try contacting technical support but am hoping someone may help me find a quick and simple resolution to this issue. I'am really looking forward on your explanation and the support from this community. How did you resolve this problem? Many of us are experiencing "No Power" when turning on the laptop, whether coming from "Sleep" or "Shutdown" from Windows 10, or by simply closing the lid. The solution to this as expalined in other threads is simply push the power reset button by putting a paper clip or similiar object into the small whole near the bottom front centre of the laptop. The question is why does this happen? To me it seems to be happening more frequently, so I am concenred that I may have a defective laptop. Does anyone have insight into this issue? View All.
