Digitizer Mending

GitHub is home to over 40 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together. If nothing happens, download GitHub Desktop and try again. If nothing happens, download Xcode and try again. If nothing happens, download the GitHub extension for Visual Studio and try again. See Issue 1 for a description of the problem and this post for a temporary workaround. It's a device that combines a stylus digitizer tablet with a full HD display. The idea is that you use the stylus to draw right on the screen. Huion has historically had pretty decent Linux support. It seemed likely that support for this latest manifestation would be added soon. Unfortunately however, the DIGImend project that has been the primary force behind driver support for tablet devices is in trouble. Nikolaithe lead dev writes :. However, I will still be reviewing and accepting patches, including ones already submitted. This is sad but also problematic on a larger scale. Free Software is still highly relevant for those with low income. This especially means artists, who may not be able to afford the latest Wacom which has decent Linux support btw and who'd prefer to use affordable devices from the Asian competition. If the availability of drivers for current hardware is declining, more artists may remain stuck on proprietary platforms in future. And the vast majority of photoshop users have never even heard of Krita It is very quick and dirty but it is also tiny. Literally just 64 lines of Python. So you could actually read the entire thing and be sure it does nothing nasty with your machine before executing it with super user privileges. Cobbled together in an afternoon as a workaround while waiting for activity in digimend-kernel-drivers More than half of the code is borrowed from dannytaylor's driver for the much more complicated Huion Inspiroy G10T. This code also inherits the former's MIT License. Make sure the DIGImend kernel drivers are unloaded by running sudo rmmod hid-uclogic. The stylus should now be moving the cursor on screen and the python process should report a lot of cursor events. Note that it is not necessary to install this driver, just execute with superuser privileges i. This program requires the uinput module to be loaded. Load it either manually sudo modprobe uinput or automatically on boot see the Arch wiki. If you don't see driver debug messages for each cursor event either, see if you may be having the same issue described as in Issue 1 and if the workaround described there fixes things for you. If this still doesn't help, go here and follow the steps. Then open a new issue.

I've been looking for a solution for hours now and it's starting to feel hopeless! I am brand new to Linux Mint; I first installed it roughly 12 hours ago, so there's a lot of basic stuff I tend to do wrong. I managed to install DIGImend, but something isn't working, so I've been uninstalling and reinstalling hoping some sort of magic fix ensues. Huion will work correctly when you plug the tablet i n. Code: Select all lsusb. I have used this tablet for quite some time on Windows without a problem. I'm just not used to how Linux operates; I've switched from Windows completely though, so I'd better get used to it. Plugging in my tablet doesn't make it work. Trying to write with the pen doesn't move the cursor, and clicking with the pen doesn't click the cursor. The light in my tablet does light up when the pen touches it though, so I know the tablet is ok. Here is what the terminal shows. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. That all sounds very hard to fix; I don't know what you would be game to do; but I still feel the Huion should be seen on a clean install of Mint I ask because I think Mint still puts them together; by default; and many feel it better to separate them; so for a fresh install; look at 2 separate partitions: google for a how-to; or post on the installation section of the forum eg when Mint 19 comes out in a week or two; some would say it is better to do a new install of its files; so if one's home partition is separate; they should not be touched; I still don't know how to switch it to left handed mode though. Here's another terminal post.

Huion HN support request. I created an X11 config file huion. Tablet now works on Fedora fc No idea what the Identifier field is for. I would like left handed support, some way to invert X and Y coordinates. It also has 16 soft buttons across the top bottom for lefties. Would love to figure out how to get them working, probably the hardware ones first. Rotation applies to the stylus and eraser devices, not the pad. Please try running the following commands:. As for the buttons, there may be a few different issues. As a first pass, please try running the following commands:. If the kernel driver correctly sets up the tablet buttons, the first button should act as an 'a' key on a keyboard open up something like gedit or a terminal see if an 'a' is typed when you press it while the last should act like a 'b' key our driver inserts four phantom buttons at positionswhich is why the command is "button 20" instead of "button 16". The Wacom tablet preferences in the GNOME control center likely won't recognize your tablet, but if it allows you to map buttons, that's where you'd need to go. If it doesn't let you map buttons, you'll need to add an entry to its database. To do this, look at the various ". After adding or editing a ". After the above When I click the stylus on the pad, I get 'a' output. The reset worked fine to clear button 1. I saw a post about createing the database entry. But since it doesn't recognize any of the buttons I didn't give it a try Do you see any point in writing a udev rule? To be sure, I just re-booted with your suggested huion.
