I want to install a high end gaming graphics card on the server we have in our office. Those cards are over priced and will not give me the performance I need or will give me the same performance as a high end GTX for times the price. The Ti requires 2x8 pin for power, I tried placing it inside the server but it's too big, so I guess I need the secondary "riser kit" to be able to fit it inside, I know that I need the second CPU to be installed in order to add the second riser kit, we already have 2 CPUs. Hello, could you send me the link to this Gen9 cable? Unfortunately I'm not able to find it. Hi Lezz. Would love to ask some advice around this. I also have an HP proliant DL gen9 which is large enough for 5 full size cards but I am uncertain about the PciE power cables and if it will work with ti gtx FE gpu? How can I contact you via PM? My email is [edited]. I can only suggest you to check default configurations, suggested by HP - whether or not they have options with like 5 GPUs W each. If they do have such options, you should be able to create cables yourself Soldering is the most simple part here. But you might also run into limitations, related to GPU physical dimensions, power connector location and etc. I have ordered gen8 cable but looking on your images of gen8 its NOT the same I have here even gen7 cable There's no official documents describing that pinout. I've looked for them for quite a while before purchasing that gen9 cable. Didn't find what you were looking for? Ask the community or Ask the Virtual Agent. RemoteFX card for a HP DL 380 G7

See if any Graphic card is supported, if not, you may have to consult with third party Graphic card manufacturers to see if that card works on this server. HP does not offer any optional graphic card for this server, however if you need to install a graphic card in your server you need to consider the available slots in first step and your future requirement for expansion. If you just need two ports, which I don't understand the purpose, please consider using and VGA port splitter instead of installing a graphic card. Please explain purpose, may be we can suggest you a better alternate. If you still need to install a grphic card, consider ATI PCI-E graphic card, again HP does not test third party graphic card with their servers, you may need to consult graphic card manufacturer manuals if its supported on this server. I cant believe the number of 'blog trog' numpties who immediately blog up a spec's page to any question like this. If the specs gave the details then people wouldnt be asking would they!!! The reply then also comes up in many searches done by people like myself - who have already read the specs. Time wasters. The useful answer is the DLs will work quite happily with a card that takes less than 70W and will use 1 pcie channel. Hope that is more helpful to people. I have one small query here is that are you able to get the display through ILO after installing these optional graphic cards? I have this same model server DL G7 and as far as I know you can use video cards that draw up to watts if you buy the PCIe 16x graphics card riser and cable. Turn on suggestions. Since video cards are most commonly x16, any video card that does not require a PEG power connector should work just fine.

After I install the new card, there is no display, and there is no post, so I don't think it's even booting. The old GTX worked fine, so the pci slot is ok. The GTX ti uses a 6 pin connector to the power supply, so I think the psu is fine too. I uninstalled all nvidia drivers, and tried to install the new card. No boot. The onboard vga works, so the cable is fine. The powercolor website indicates, "mainboard could not detect UEFI bios of display card correctly during booting" and recommends a bios update. Go to Solution. Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! Learn How to Post and More. I understand that after installing a newer graphics card in your computer there is no display. Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately, my bios does not have the secure boot configuration sub menu. The secure tab shows the system security submenu, but not the secure boot configuration under it. After a little digging, ok, more than a littleI discovered there is a bios update for my mainboard. Do I need to apply this update even though I have windows 7? I am curious why there is a bios update for my motherboard, but not compatible with my OS, however I am hesitant to update my bios unless absolutely necessary. I have actually found that I have the same problem as other users on other forums, but no resolution was ever found. Maybe this motherboard conflicts with the graphics card No gfx card requires a full uefi bios, sometimes you have to tweak bios settings for a gfx card to work with a uefi bios, never with a non uefi bios, when a gfx card is uefi compliant which isnt many as of yet it will also be backwards compatible with non uefi motherboards. So from what I can gather from the previous posts, it seems like a bios update is indeed needed. For my particular PC, the bios update is not available from the update page. Although it sounds like a very bad idea, I am tempted to try to update the bios using the update that is for windows 8. Does anyone know if a different OS will affect a bios update? Admittedly, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this, but updates on the motherboard should be independent of the operating system, right? Didn't find what you were looking for?
