I'm pretty new to Unity, and I am trying to enable a BoxCollider from another object when the timer reaches 0, using this code:. My issue is that the timer won't go down unless I keep clicking on the object. How do I enable the timer to start when someone clicks an object, and start counting down? Your problem derives from counting down in the OnMouseDown method. Let's take a look at the API:. This means that you make a call to this method when you press the mouse button. Your logic performs one increment on the timer, and that is it. In the next frame, you are still holding the mouse button, but you have not pressed the mouse button - it was already pressed! As a result, the method does not call. For future reference, regarding input, there is a clear distinction between pressing a button, holding a button and releasing a button. That is irrelevant, for now. You do not want to have to continue holding your mouse button in order for your timer to work - you want it to just work straight away. Instead of using this method to count down, you want to use this method to start counting down. We can easily do that by setting a bool to determine if we are currently counting down, and performing the count down in the Update method. Sign up to join this community. I'm trying to make a C script to disable the First person controller script component for my character. I'm doing this so that while I'm controlling something else such as a vehicle, the only control script enabled at the time is the vehicle, and vice versa for when I'm not in the vehicle. I did find a tutorial on the Unity Web site for Enabling and Disabling components but it uses a light component as an example, and I have no idea of how to do the same thing with a script component. I really appreciate any help I can get to solve this problem. Remember, you need both scripts on the same object or you need to first find that object in the scene and then the component named as your script. The only thing you need to change in that script is the call to GetComponent. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. Home Questions Tags Users Unanswered. Despite that fact, implementing a loading bar in Unity is one of the easiest things. To be able to load a scene from another scene, you will have to use a function from the Scene Manager known as SceneManager. LoadScene which is also known back in the day as Application. Want to learn how to create a flappy bird game in less than 10 minutes? Save your current scene and name it to anything you want. After that, create a new scene and save that scene and name it to anything you want again. As for the reference, I will have two scenes named Level1 and Level2. Once you have your scenes created, go to your build settings and add the two scenes. Because if you remember in our code, we have used the class AsyncOperation. This class will allow us to see all the process that is happening whenever you load a scene. Next, navigate to the Button component, just right underneath the On Click section, click on the plus button. Next, click on the dropdown menu and open the LevelManager and select the LoadLevel string. Then, type in the input box the name of the scene that you want to load.
