Although credentialing is not a requirement to work in the field, having a certification behind your name can result in a better job and higher pay. There are two levels of housekeeper certification: Certified Executive Housekeeper and Registered Executive Housekeeper. REH is the highest certification. Gain at least one year of verifiable experience working in an entry-level housekeeping position. This experience can come from a variety of venues, including hotel housekeeping, business offices or independent contractor work. Earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited university if you desire to obtain certification as an REH. These courses include subjects such as housekeeping techniques, laundry and linen, pest control and waste management.
