Authentic Voodoo, Vodou and Hoodoo Doll For Karma $89For centuries, the African American heritage of the southern areas of America has practices Hoodoo. Also called conjure, laying tricks, rootwork, and root doctoring, this Southern folk magic has a theory that is hard to ignore. Here, we are going to take a sampling view of the territory that will provide you with ways of incorporating ashes into your own practice. A well-known practice use of Quassia Bark is to triple-refine a name by burning it and then folding the ash into another name paper, which is burned. The ashes from the second burning are folded into another name paper. In the past, fountain pens were commonly used and by sprinkling the ashes of a name-paper onto the 2 nd and 3 rd iterations because the ash would stick to the liquid ink while it dried. When we write something out such as a chapter from the Bible, a Psalm, or a verse, or especially when we compose our own prayer, it makes a stronger connection from between from our head to our heart by way of our hand. But the thought we use to compose the material and write it out makes the conveying of those conceptions stronger. The body is cleansed from the water from which a prayer paper has been soaked. Another way of commonly working is burning the paper to ashes and then blends the ashes with other materials that have been used in other spiritual jobs. A candle may be used to burn the paper until ashes have formed, allowing them to float upward. However, using the bed created from incense is the more common way because the efforts are then concentrated. The ashes created from the burning are used in many ways, the most common being one of the following:. If you have a brass bowl upon your altar, this is a perfect place to collect ash from the days of work. Such as the collected ash when you have a weekly ceremony of working for money. Another great example is a professional root doctor that has separate altars working for various clients they can catch the ash from each one to fill their container. Regardless how the ash is caught, either by specific timing, by a job, or by the container, when the right time presents itself, dispose of the ash appropriately in a ritual manner in accordance to the kind of work that generated the ash. Hinduism -- or at least its iconography -- forms a minor current in the hoodoo folk-magic tradition. If you are unfamiliar with hoodoo and found this page because you were searching on Hinduism in popular American culture, you should perhaps read the short section of the Hoodoo in Theory and Practice page titled Hoodoo History: Admixtures: Asian Influences on Hoodoo Hinduism's inclusion in conjure came about not through social and cultural mingling of populations, as was the case with Buddhism and hoodoo or Taoism and hoodoo. Rather, Hindu ideas entered into hoodoo due to the introduction of Hindu images and portions of Hindu religious practice -- particularly yoga -- into American metaphysical traditions during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially among adherents of then-new religions such as Theosophy and New Thought. These ideas from the Indian sub-continent, which included divination by crystaL ball, concepts of reincarnation and karma cause and effectand Western approaches to sacred sexuality derived from or identified with tantra yogawere widespread in the occult circles of America at that time, and were not confined to the African American communities in which conjure was the prevalent form of folk magic. The Hindu current spread into the African American spiritual community in the early 20th century when authors and publishers such as L. DeLaurence and William Walker Atkinson, working off the energies generated by the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, introduced "Hindoo" and "Yoga" concepts to the wider American metaphysical community and marketed these concepts in the form of books and products nationwide during the early part of the 20th century. DeLaurence, in particular, extended his business from publishing to the distribution of talismans, crystal balls, and incense, and he included a variety of conflated Hindu, BuddhistTaoist, and other Asian images on his product labels. By the early s, Dr. Read, an African American root worker in Philadelphia, was manufacturing and distributing his own brand of "Hindoo" incense, and from that time onward, the iconography of Hindu deities] such as Ganesh and Kali not always correctly identified, but always recognizable has been found on hoodoo product lines distributed nationwide. The Theory of Practicing Hoodoo
I found a lot of very good blogs on the subject, but this one is about the best I could find so far. Thanks to carolinaconjure. In fact, since Hoodoo is essentially the separation of magickal practices from religious dogma, the ethics of conjure is left entirely up to the practitioner and his or her sense of moral values. Some conjure workers are said to be morally opposed to bringing harm to another individual or animal through the use of spells and magick; while other workers will gladly curse your enemy under certain conditions. Again, some workers are opposed to breaking up marriages so long as abuse isn't a factor. In some cases, it may not be that the worker doesn't want to perform a certain type of spell or working, but that they may have no talent for it. This, however, does not mean that practitioners are completely free to do whatever they want with no consequences. While Hoodoo allows for an individual to not only protect themselves by magickal means but also to retaliate against those who have wronged them, they also hold to the belief that a spell must be justified in order for it to work. Justified is a term that one will often hear about in the practice of Hoodoo, especially when the subject of curses arises. Curses are a malevolent type of spell the effects of which can range from bad luck to death. The belief in curses can be found in virtually every culture and they are mentioned in the sacred texts of many religions. Most religions forbid the practice of cursing, while others, citing the use of curses in their holy books, utilize them to protect their selves from their enemies and other forms of evil. Every religion has a form of blessings intended to protect people, places and things from curses. Non-religious individuals believe that curses are a product of the mind and are psychological in nature. In a sense, people "curse" themselves because they believe that they are cursed. In the Christian Bible, curses are seen as a wish, which can only be fulfilled by God and only when the curse is deserved. For example, if you lay down a powder to curse one individual it will only have an effect on that individual an no one else who happens to walk over the powder. Furthermore, it is believed that curses which are not justified or deserved have no effect Proverbs In other instances, curses are used to prevent individuals from breaking certain laws. In addition a curse which is both deserved and uttered by a person in authority is said to never fail.

You need: a black human figure candle or black chinaware human figure gender-specific, according to the sex of your enemy a packet of dried blackberry leaves a piece of black cloth a length of black thread a hammer a shovel or trowel to dig a hole Optional: Goofer Dust or Graveyard Dirt Crossing Oil or Hot Foot Oil Start on a Saturday. Name the figural candle or statue with the name of your enemy by carving the enemy's name in the wax or writing it on the chinaware with a marker. Wrap the candle or statuette all over with the dried spiny leaves of blackberry vines. Lay this mess on the piece of black cloth, wrap it up, and tie the bundle closed with black thread. Now, in your most angry voice, tell the person what it is you want to send back to them and then hit the packet 3 times with a hammer. Hit it really hard, to break it. Each day for 7 days tell the figure what you want to send back to him or her and hit the packet 3 hammer blows. By the end of the 7 days, it should be pretty well pulverized. When you are finished, take the bundle outdoors to a cemetery if you candig a deep hole, throw the packet in, and cover it up. Walk away and don't look back. To make the work stronger, you may also dress the candle or statue first with Crossing Oil or Hotfoot Oil and you may add Goofer Dust or Graveyard Dirt to the blackberry leaves, but not too much, because you want that figure feel the spiny leaves as it is crushed up in them by the hammer blows. Good luck! Thank you for your time. My compliments to the "chef"! I'm not sure what "clear up as usual" means in your tradition, so i would like to mention that in my line hoodoowe would suggest a cleansing bath for the practitioner, right after he or she has un-named the poppet "voodoo doll" or doll-baby. Hyssop herb tea would be satisfactory for this bath. Standing between two white candles and recital of the 51st Psalm "Cleanse me with hyssop" is optional, of course. Throw a basinful of the dirtied bath-water out at a cross-roads as per the usual custom throw it to the East over your left shoulder, walk away, and don't look back. It will do two things: First, remove thier curse by killing them or stopping them from harming you. Second, the person who rooted on you will decide their own fate; no other fates will be affected unless you desire it through guilt or doubt -- and then the spell may fizzle. Get a paper, a dagger, a white candle, and a black candle white on your right, black on your left. Draw a human figure on the paper to represent the person who put roots on you. Invoke Satan in your own way. Invoke the elements. Think of all the problems you have been having, project it into the paper form, feel the anger fully this is very importantstomp, humiliate, beat, torture, and vent your anger on it, hate it with a whole heart, hate who put the roots on you, next stab the genitalia and direct this torture to the tormenter, formed or formless, that they are destroyed in the name of your body's power and the dark will of the Satan within you, that they will die, they will feel pain, they will suffer, their body will betray them, and their sex will rot off, and they will be plunged into the void to be driven insane.
