I was looking for a new hobby, something creative and relatively speaking, cheap. Thus far I've enjoyed it. Setup was both simple and complex in ways that I enjoy. So far, refining what I have and am able to do with the printer has been my focus, and quite enjoyable.

Purchased 2 of these printers and figured I would post how it put it together in a walk-though. I have included some of my recommended MODs for an out of the box printer. That is a lot of printer for the money. Note the instruction manual. They tell you what parts and what screws for each step. Just a dab on the thread will do. Flip it over and locktite the screws. Tighten the screws up and set it upright. Be careful as you handle the printer, the printhead is fragile. Next you will install the power supply, ensure you are switch to V if you are in the United States. Swap out a couple more black screws from the assortment kit. Ensure the T-slots actually rotate from vertical to horizontal securing them in the extrusion frame. Vibration Dampeners, silence your printerand improve print quality by minimizing vibration from the motors. Generally speaking, they are only installed on the X and Y Axis. Not on the Z-Axis. While I was able to install the vibration dampener on the X-axis, I could not on the Y, it was hitting the frame. I will come back to it because they are half as loud now. Install the vibration dampener with 2 screws to the motor. Make sure you are not screwing into the threaded side of the dampener, yet. Next gather up the parts to assemble the X-axis arm. The extruder assembly is bolted to the arm using 2 screws. NOTE: these are not high quality allen wrenches, if you use the long end, it will strip. As a rule, use the long end to snug screws, use the short end to torque screws. Slide the belt under the rollers on the print head assembly with the extra space provided by the loosened eccentric nut. Tighten the end pulley and then tighten the screws. Slide the entire X-axis assembly down the top two towers of the frame. If it is too tight, both sides of the X-axis assembly have eccentric nuts. The lead screw has to line up with the threaded brass fitting shown at the top of the picture below. Feed the lead screw through to the coupler on the Z-motor. Mine did not so I had to shim it. See how I did it here. The one shown below is no good, so I had to shim the motor. Throw a little White Lithium Grease on there.

Creality Ender 3 3D Printer

I want to include my latest improvement on this post. I currently at 8mm x 20mm springs and have found they are more consistent that the stock springs provided by creality. A month or so ago, I bought two Creality Ender 3 Printers. Overall, I still love em. They have been printing non-stop and I would still highly recommend them to anyone just starting out or looking for a entry-to-commercial duty FDM printer. They are beasts and both are going right now. Best consistent deal I have found. On the left one, the base is not level even though I loosened it all up and it is just a tad more finicky. Initially, they would both print and print again without adjustment. But after a week or so, The Bad Ender, would require that I manually level the bed, on the fly, at the start of each print. This week, I decided to solve that and this post will document that so that other benefit. It never hurts to use a little Loctite Blue — medium strength — threadlocker! Here is how I lay out my clips so the print head will not hit them. What I learned is the bed would not stay stable between prints no matter how gently I removed the build plate. If you want an assortment of Metric screws and nuts use this link. Tighten them all the way down. Snug them up. Replace the bed with the sprints between the base and the nuts. Another view. And another…. Put the leveling wheels back on.

Definitely start your nozzle further away from the bed than you might normally when first getting used to the mat. Until you have everything dialed in. My first print way to close to the bed was a real challenge to remove. I print exclusively with ASA and the results are fantastic. I have always used Blue painters tape which was getting to be impractical on larger prints at higher temps and just in general. Using a these sheets I have been able to print fast and easy to get of the bed and clean up with alcohol. Something wrong with this post? Thanks for letting us know. Also love the fact that I can use lower bed temps since the adhesion is so good. I use them on all of my printers.

Prices and delivery times are dependent upon the warehouse selected so choose accordingly. My Ender 3 printer started having adhesion problems with the new coated glass build surface. In a fit of desperation I fitted a dial indicator to the main crossbar that mounts the nozzle and took a few readings. When the nozzle positions itself for the first pass it jumps Z up 0. Could this cause the lack of adhesion? But where; i. I recently upgraded to an SKR mini e3 v1. I cant tell how to fix it. At this point the printer is unusable, I may try going back to the stock board if no one has any ideas. I heated up my printer to C to change the ABS, and when I put in the new filament, I pushed a small amount of filament out of the extruder and it looked blackened and burnt.
